The Interrupters have announced Battle Scars, their first album in four years, due January 29. Alongside the announcement, the Los Angeles band released the single "Back From the Dead" with a video that follows the group performing inside a hospital, at the meeting point of death and rebirth.

The ska-punk track draws on a personal experience from singer Aimee Interrupter, who said she went through a near-death experience and framed the song as a letter to alcohol. "'Back From the Dead' is a reawakening," she explained, adding that the version of herself that died is gone for good — something she now celebrates.

The band's fifth full-length was produced by Kevin Bivona and Tim Armstrong and recorded to analog tape. Longtime collaborators returned for the sessions: Armstrong (Rancid, Operation Ivy), Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion), Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy) and Travis Barker (blink-182, Transplants). Michaels co-wrote two songs and guests on vocals for "Strangers," while Barker co-produced and played drums on "Wild Heart," "Unbreakable" and "Warrior Spirit." The record folds new wave, post-punk and synth-pop into the band's established sound and also includes "Harboring Vengeance," "Stained Glass Window" and "Legacy."

Formed in 2011 by Aimee Interrupter and brothers Kevin, Justin and Jesse Bivona, The Interrupters broke through with "She's Kerosene" from 2018's Fight the Good Fight and followed it with In the Wild in 2022.

A 2027 North American tour will cover more than 30 dates across the US and Canada, including Brooklyn (4/4), Philadelphia (4/6), Montreal (4/9) and a hometown show at LA's Wiltern Theatre (4/30), with Doom Regulator — the project led by Tim Armstrong and Jesse Michaels — playing its first ever live shows. UK and European dates begin in Glasgow (5/26), with general on-sale November 6, followed by festival stops at Slam Dunk North and South, Hellfest and Impericon.
