The Interrupters Return With 'Warrior Spirit' Featuring Armstrong, Barker and Gurewitz
The new single keeps the band's ska backbone while leaning into early-80s new wave, and arrives alongside a packed 2027 European summer run.
The Interrupters are back with a new song called 'Warrior Spirit', a track that holds on to the ska and two-tone framework the band has built its career around while stretching it in a different direction. The upbeat is still there, but it is wrapped in shimmering textures and atmospheric builds pulled from new wave.
The song came together with a notable list of collaborators. Tim Armstrong, Jesse Michaels, Travis Barker and Brett Gurewitz all had a hand in its creation. Vocalist Aimee Interrupter described the sessions as a party, saying the studio turned into a dance floor every time the track was played, and noted the band was tipping its hat to the early-80s new wave records it grew up loving.
On the meaning behind the title, she framed it as a message about inner resilience. "Everyone is usually fighting some kind of battle that no one else can see", she said, pointing to the fearlessness she believes lives inside everyone.
The band has already locked in its European summer for 2027. May brings shows in Madrid at La Riviera, Lisbon at LAV, A Coruña at Pelicano, Bilbao at BEC and Barcelona at Poble Espanyol, followed by both Slam Dunk dates: Leeds on the 29th and Hatfield on the 30th.
June is festival season for the group, with appearances at Greenfield Festival in Interlaken, Nova Rock in Nickelsdorf, Hurricane at Eichenring Scheeßel, Southside in Neuhausen ob Eck, Jera on Air in Ysselsteyn and Mighty Sounds in Tábor.
