My Chemical Romance Hint at MCR5 as North American Run Wraps in San Antonio

My Chemical Romance closed the North American leg of their 2026 Black Parade Tour on Saturday (Sept. 12) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, and used the occasion to stoke long-running speculation about a fifth studio album. Gerard Way told the crowd the group has essentially always wanted to make another record and that fans deserve one, though he stopped short of committing to a timeline. "We don't know when it'll be," he said, adding only that it would be worth the wait.

The band's last studio album remains 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. The Conventional Weapons compilation, made up of 10 songs issued across five two-song singles, arrived in 2013, shortly before the group split. Their only new music since the reunion has been the 2022 single "The Foundations of Decay."

That song closed out the two-hour, 45-minute set, with Way dedicating it to co-producer Doug McKean, who died of a brain hemorrhage in June 2022. The night also pushed the tour's theatrical conceit further than usual: rather than performing for Draag's Grand Immortal Dictator, Way beheaded a prop version of the character, then held an onstage election and installed himself as the new leader in a landslide.

The other major surprise came during "Mama," when King Diamond joined the band for a duet, adding his trademark falsetto before "knighting" each member.

MCR's schedule continues through the end of the year with a run of Hollywood Bowl dates in late October, capped by a Halloween show, followed by an Asian leg in November. Way framed the San Antonio gig as the end of the stadium chapter rather than the tour itself, noting the band still has Southeast Asia and other plans ahead.
