Ganon Jones Jr., one of the wrestlers who shared the ring with Andy Williams during the guitarist's final match, has announced he is stepping away from professional wrestling. Williams, formerly of Every Time I Die, died on Sept. 5 at age 48 after a medical incident at an event in Pennsylvania.

The match took place in Millvale, Pennsylvania, and featured Williams, known in wrestling as "The Butcher," teaming with longtime partner The Blade against Jones and Duke Davis, who work together as TME. Reports say Williams collapsed after the match and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

In an Instagram post this week, Jones called it "one of the worst nights of my life" and said the match and its aftermath keep replaying in his mind. His young daughter was in the crowd watching, and he said the night frightened her more than anything he can remember. When he finally checked his phone, she had texted him saying she would not let him wrestle anymore. Jones said he cannot leave home to be "The All Star" while his daughter wonders whether he will return, and he is unsure whether the break will be permanent.

The Butcher and The Blade spent several years as a tag team in All Elite Wrestling before exiting the company earlier this year. Although he was not on the current roster, Williams was honored with an AEW tribute broadcast on Sept. 12, during which announcers read a statement from The Blade, his first public comment on the death.

A celebration of life for Williams is scheduled for Sept. 27 at Buffalo RiverWorks in his hometown of Buffalo, New York. The memorial is open to the public and will include acoustic performances from several musicians.
