Wendy's drops emo album featuring members of blessthefall and Silverstein
Made with Rise Records, "Songs to Listen to in a Wendy's Parking Lot" turns combo meals and Frostys into full-blown heartbreak.
Fast food chain Wendy's has released an actual emo album. Titled "Songs to Listen to in a Wendy's Parking Lot," the record was made in collaboration with Oregon-based Rise Records and features musicians from recognizable scene bands performing songs inspired by the restaurant and its menu.
The project was teased on social media earlier in the week, when the brand unveiled a new logo showing the Wendy character with her red hair swooping over one eye, a direct nod to 2000s emo styling. Album credits are listed on streaming services.
Among the participants is blessthefall's Beau Bokan, who sings "Parking lots and Frosty spoons will get me over you" on "The Best Combo Meal on the Worst Night of My Life." Silverstein's Shane Told handles "I Miss the Sunroom," mourning the sunrooms that once sat at the front of Wendy's locations. Another track is dedicated to the death of a Frosty, the chain's signature frozen dessert.
Fan reaction came quickly. One Instagram commenter said they would cry in a Wendy's parking lot if blessthefall didn't play the song on their next tour. The rest of the tracklist follows the same formula, pairing fast food references with early 2000s emo humor.
Beyond YouTube, "Songs to Listen to in a Wendy's Parking Lot" is available on most major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
