Teenage Bottlerocket announce Halloween children's book with flexi disc single
"I Don't Know What I Want To Be For Halloween" arrives November 30 via Pirates Press Records, packaged with a re-recorded, kid-friendly version of the song.
Teenage Bottlerocket are stepping into children's publishing. "I Don't Know What I Want To Be For Halloween" is due November 30, written by band members Miguel Chen and Ray Carlisle and illustrated by Kaleb Kaiser.
The 28-page, full-color, perfect-bound book follows Margeaux, a girl who can't settle on a costume while everyone around her already has the perfect one. Her search turns into a comic adventure that ends with the realization that the best ideas come from being yourself. The story takes its cue from the band's song of the same name.
Every copy ships with a 45 rpm 7" flexi disc meant for home turntables, carrying a brand new recording of the track with lyrics rewritten specifically for younger listeners.
The book and flexi bundle is available through the Pirates Press Records webstore, while a digital edition has been issued via Bandcamp. The band is also rolling out a read-along version in five installments across YouTube Shorts and Instagram. A full widescreen read-along video goes up on YouTube on release day.
The Laramie, Wyoming group remain one of the most influential American pop-punk acts of the past two decades, and have a long-running relationship with Pirates Press Records.
