One Step Closer announce new album Zero and share two songs at once
The Wilkes-Barre post-hardcore band's record arrives Feb. 19 via Run For Cover with guests Pat Flynn and Isaac Hale.
One Step Closer have revealed details of Zero, their new full-length, due Feb. 19 through Run For Cover. The announcement arrived alongside two new songs, "Blue Hour" and "Was It Ever Enough?", released on the same day.
Both tracks come with videos directed by the band itself and framed as two acts, designed to be watched in sequence. They offer the first look at the material the Wilkes-Barre quintet has assembled for the record.
Vocalist Ryan Savitski tied the songs to a rough stretch for the group, saying the album carries that weight. "There's so much desperation on this record," he noted, adding that he hopes listeners reshape the material around their own experiences rather than his.
Zero runs ten tracks and features two guest appearances from familiar faces in contemporary hardcore. Pat Flynn of Fiddlehead turns up on "About a Boy," while Knocked Loose's Isaac Hale contributes to "A Fleeting Face." The rest of the sequence includes "Numb With Sleep," "Until You Bloom," "August," "Write My Wrongs," "Drowning Skies" and closer "For Them."
Over the past several years, One Step Closer have become one of the most visible acts in the current wave of American post-hardcore, sharing the road with peers such as Anxious and Koyo. Zero keeps them on Run For Cover, the label that has long served as home to a large slice of that scene.
