Slayyyter covers Hole's "Violet" for triple j

Slayyyter has recorded a cover of Hole's "Violet" for Australian radio station triple j. The performance is out now and finds the pop artist revisiting a record she credits as formative.

Speaking with the station, Slayyyter said she first came across Hole and Courtney Love as a teenager scrolling Tumblr, where riot grrrl edits led her to Live Through This. The album became a release valve during her angriest high school years. "I loved everything about it," she said of Love's stage presence, adding that screaming along in her bedroom helped get the anger out of her system. Covering the song, she noted, felt like a full-circle moment.

The cover arrives shortly after "brand new chanel$," presented as a sister track to "BEAT UP CHANEL$" from WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA, released earlier this year. During the same conversation, she hinted at what she described as an upcoming "inverse album," shaped by events that have unfolded since that record came out.

According to Slayyyter, the project will feature flipped takes on songs that came before it. No release date or further details have been announced. The "Violet" cover is available through triple j.
