Chase & Status cover Turnstile's "Never Enough" at the BBC Live Lounge
The British drum 'n' bass duo brought a full live band to the session and swapped the song's guitars for jungle breakbeats.
British drum 'n' bass duo Chase & Status have recorded a version of Turnstile's "Never Enough" for the BBC Live Lounge. The pair showed up with a full live band, including a guitarist, a lead singer and multiple backup vocalists, reworking the track into an exuberant dance-pop arrangement.
Instead of the heavy guitars that drive the original, the cover leans on jungle breakbeats during the song's biggest moments, while keeping the structure of the title track from Turnstile's 2025 album.
The choice follows Never Enough: Versions, the collection Turnstile put out in August featuring remixes and reinterpretations from dance producers including Floating Points, Four Tet, Kettama and Rod Lee. Chase & Status were not part of that release, but have now delivered their own take on the material.
In the UK, the duo are a long-running commercial force, with a career stretching back more than two decades and seven top 10 hits at home. Their 2024 Stormzy collaboration "Backbone" went to number one. Last month they appeared on Skepta's single "Innocent Smile" alongside Madness frontman Suggs.
Turnstile have their own history with the program. Earlier this year, the Baltimore band taped a Live Lounge session of their own, covering "Burning Fight" by Inside Out, the hardcore group Zach de la Rocha fronted before Rage Against The Machine. The band are also preparing a free show at the Washington Monument.
