Saya Gray has released QWERTY III, the newest entry in the experimental EP series the Canadian artist launched in 2023. The record features oddly titled songs such as "YOU??? HUH???" and "SPOOO0OOOOF", pairing singer-songwriter melodies with fuzzed-out guitars and disorienting stop-start production.

The series began with QWERTY in 2023 and continued with QWERTY II in 2024. In between, Gray put out the album SAYA, which earned her a Polaris Prize nomination. Over the past few months she has opened shows for Turnstile and contributed to the Wildwood soundtrack.

In an all-caps statement, Gray described the Q EPs as experiments made between projects, throwaways and cathartic moments that don't fit between eras of change. She framed the releases as small mixtapes documenting how strange she feels living in a strange world.

She added that she would rather make honest work than something designed to fit in, calling the songs offerings from an in-between space. QWERTY III is out now on streaming platforms.
