Ruts DC set September release for four-track EP "Bound In Blood"
The record arrives September 11 through the band's own Sosumi Recordings, pressed on CD and 10-inch vinyl.
Ruts DC will release a new four-song EP titled "Bound In Blood" on September 11 via Sosumi Recordings, the label run by the band itself. The record is coming out on CD and 10-inch vinyl, with a red and black smoke pressing available for pre-order.
The title track opens the release and previously surfaced in an acoustic reading on "ElectrAcoustiC Volume 3". Alongside it are the brand new "Wear The Crown", the accompanying "Dub The Crown" and a remix of "Born Innocent". The band has framed the EP without a designated A or B side, leaving the running order up to listeners and DJs.
Artwork for the release is based on an original painting by Oliver Howard, extending a lineage that dates back to 1979, when Rupert Howard produced the cover for The Ruts debut album "The Crack". That original painting is now owned by Henry Rollins.
The core trio of Segs, Ruffy and Heggarty brought in guests for the sessions. Longtime "Rhythm Collision" collaborator Mitt Gamon plays harmonica, while Boz Boorer, known for his work with The Polecats and Morrissey, adds extra guitars.
The EP caps a busy stretch for the group. Since the 2022 studio album "Counterculture?", Ruts DC have delivered two further installments of their ElectrAcoustiC series, one in 2023 and another in 2024. Looking ahead, the band is building toward a tour marking 50 years of The Ruts in 2027.
