Montreal-based songwriter Roxanne Izzo has released her debut album, Made, out now everywhere through Hell For Breakfast. The twelve-track record pulls from alt-rock, emo, pop punk, '90s indie, post-punk and jangle pop.

The album was tracked live off the floor at Mixart Studios in Montreal with Izzo's full band: Max Izzo on guitar, Alex Izzo on drums and Lawrence Leylekian on bass. Boris Petrowski engineered the sessions, and Jack Shirley handled mixing and mastering at The Atomic Garden.

Lyrically, Made deals with identity, disillusionment, spirituality, fate and the difficulty of chasing a creative career while staying afloat. Izzo says the first song she wrote for the record centers on being young and consumed by a passion, and that it set the tone for the themes that followed. Elsewhere, years spent on tarot TikTok turned into a tongue-in-cheek meditation on how easily something complicated gets flattened into comfort.

In the track-by-track breakdown published alongside the release, Izzo discusses a generational sense of coming of age in a world that feels doomed, a song named "Deity" written about a younger-sister figure who mirrors an unhealed part of herself, and a track about wanting to conform, drawn from elementary school gym class and how that instinct carries into adulthood.

The title track hinges on the line "Made for destruction," which the songwriter reads as open-ended rather than purely cynical, since destruction can clear space for something new. The album also contains what she describes as the only love song she has written, a piece about impermanence that lands late in the sequence as a glimmer of hope — and which she considers the saddest song on the record.
