Rock and wrestling worlds mourn Every Time I Die guitarist Andy Williams

Tributes have poured in from both the heavy music scene and professional wrestling following the death of Andy "The Butcher" Williams, rhythm guitarist for Every Time I Die and an AEW performer, at the age of 48. Williams collapsed during an Enjoy Wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night.

Reports say his legs buckled during a tag team match before he fell. His partner, The Blade, tried to help him up before Williams collapsed a second time. Enjoy Wrestling said staff doctors administered CPR until an ambulance arrived. His death was confirmed with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

On the music side, The Callous Daoboys vocalist Carson Pace shared a text exchange with Williams in which the guitarist promised to explain how structuring a match and writing a song are the same thing. Metalcore band Zao posted a photo of Williams, saying they were left without words. Josh Scogin of '68 and formerly Norma Jean wrote at length about touring with Every Time I Die as a teenager and about a two-day road trip he took last month just to see Atomic Rule, Williams' more recent band. "Andy was larger than life in everything he did," he wrote.

Wrestling figures including Josh Alexander, Matt Hardy, Saraya-Jade Bevis and RJ City also posted messages. City noted that Williams was far more thoughtful and cultured than his imposing appearance suggested. AEW issued a statement calling him a trailblazing musician with Every Time I Die and Atomic Rule who earned deep respect from peers in and out of the ring.

Steve Kaye of Paragon Talent Group, who represented Williams for roughly a year and a half, remembered their marathon phone calls and pledged to keep the wrestler's ideas alive.
