Remi Wolf has announced Mud, her new album, arriving Oct. 9 through Island Records. The project took shape after Wolf started rethinking how she wanted to make music, and it became her most communal effort to date.

The sessions began with a retreat in Big Bear alongside longtime collaborator Jared Solomon and friends Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin and Gigi Grombacher. Family-style dinners turned into writing sessions, with microphones passed around the table as ideas came together on their own. That approach carried over to Electric Lady Studios in New York and later to Joshua Tree, where the album was finished, with everything tracked live in the same room.

Wolf describes the process as a turning point. "It has been a very cleansing record to make for me," she says, adding that the album pushed her into a new phase of her life.

Lead single "Twiggy" arrived last month, built around people she dated who she found flat in every sense. It was also issued on vinyl with a hidden B-side, "Tiny Little Twigs (Demo)," and was first previewed during Hayley Williams' set at Newport Folk Festival. Later this week, Wolf will share "Bottle," the album's next single.

Mud runs 11 tracks: "Bottle," "Champagne," "Twiggy," "Burn Me Blue," "Jamie," "Covered In Mud," "Moon So High," "I Won't Cry," "Wine Drunk," "Guess" and "Yellow Rose."
