Half Past Youth debut single "Love Letter" draws We The Kings and Hit The Lights comparisons
The Phoenix, Arizona band first premiered the track in September and is picking up traction with a start/stop pop-punk chorus.
Phoenix, Arizona pop-punk band Half Past Youth have introduced themselves with their debut single, "Love Letter". The track originally premiered back in September and has been steadily gaining traction for the newcomers.
The song is built around guitar riffing in the verses that spills into a start/stop chorus, a structure long associated with the genre. The result is a bright, polished pop-punk sound that Chorus.fm placed in the company of We The Kings, Hit The Lights and The Starting Line.
In a review written by Adam Grundy, the site argued that the band already has the look, the sound and the vibe lining up at the very start of their run. The piece singled out "Love Letter" as a song with real staying power on a playlist.
Half Past Youth have not yet announced an EP or full-length. For now, "Love Letter" stands as their only official release, positioning the group as one of the newer names worth following in American pop punk.
