Grey Area share "Anxious" ahead of new LP "Silence"

New York hardcore/punk band Grey Area have released "Anxious," the latest preview of their upcoming full-length "Silence." The record is due later this year through Creep Records.

Musically, the band sits closer to melodic hardcore than to straight-ahead hardcore punk, drawing a line back to acts like Bad Brains and Descendents while keeping a modern, polished edge that separates them from straight revivalism.

The lyrics were written by Vinnie, a member of the band who has since died. According to the group, the song came out of sleepless nights spent worrying about the future and feeling out of place anywhere, and about how going to shows and singing along finally gave him somewhere to belong.

That context reshaped the final verse. In their statement, the band noted that Vinnie "wonders if everything we made will just fade away," adding that performing the track is their way of making sure it doesn't.

"Silence" is available for preorder on vinyl now. No exact release date has been announced beyond the band's confirmation that the album lands this year on Creep Records.
