Good Riddance's Russ Rankin Drops Solo EP "A Season In Hell"
The six-song release pairs three originals with three covers and is out now on streaming and blue 12-inch vinyl via Indecision Records.
Russ Rankin, frontman of Good Riddance, has released a new solo EP titled A Season In Hell. The record is streaming now and is also available on blue 12-inch vinyl through Indecision Records.
The EP runs six tracks, split evenly between three original songs and three covers. Rankin worked on the material alongside Adam Gomez of The Dickies. The standout among the covers is Starry Eyes, the 1979 power-pop staple by The Records, which Rankin reworks into a faster and heavier version that leans on his hardcore background.
The release is framed as a look at the songs and influences that sit outside the Good Riddance catalog, giving space to material the singer might not otherwise record with his main band.
Beyond Good Riddance, Rankin has played with Only Crime and built a run of solo releases over the years. He also works as a poet, columnist and screenwriter, which helps explain the more personal angle of this project.
A Season In Hell arrives as a short, focused snapshot of that other side, issued simultaneously in digital and physical formats.
