Getting Dumber Release New Album "Stop Wasting Time!" and "Brainrot Bop" Video
The Australian band's eleven-track record was tracked by Cameron Murphy at Opaque Audio and marks their first release as a four-piece.
Australian outfit Getting Dumber have released their new full-length, "Stop Wasting Time!", a record built around the struggle to stay authentically human in an increasingly artificial world. The album collects eleven songs and is out now across streaming platforms.
Recording, mixing and mastering duties went to Cameron Murphy at Opaque Audio. The band frames the material as future "clock-rock" and "hour-pop" classics, pulling from a wide pool of influences: 1960s garage rock, ska, Saturday morning cartoons, new wave, blockbuster action movies and 1980s hardcore, all folded into the group's time-traveling sound.
Alongside the album, the band premiered a video for "Brainrot Bop", a pop-punk-meets-doo-wop cut about screen and technology addiction and the toll it takes on relationships and mental health.
"Stop Wasting Time!" is the first release since Getting Dumber expanded into a four-piece lineup, a shift the band says makes the record bigger, louder and dumber than anything they have done before.
The group will celebrate the release with a show at 459 Bar in North Perth on September 25, with support from Surf Shop Cops, The Points and Twinbloom.
