Fat Wreck Chords reissues "The Songs Of Tony Sly: A Tribute" on vinyl

Fat Wreck Chords is bringing back The Songs of Tony Sly: A Tribute, the compilation honoring the late singer and songwriter. First pressed in 2013, the record is being repressed more than a decade later and will be available again on October 29, with pre-orders open through the label.

The reissue comes as a gatefold double album packaged with a collectible poster and a bumper sticker. The Fat Wreck Chords variant is named after Sly's daughter Keira, while a separate retail version carries the name of his other daughter, Fiona.

The tracklist gathers covers of Sly's material by Rise Against, Bad Religion, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, The Gaslight Anthem and others. Among the songs revisited are "International You Day," "Soulmate" and "On The Outside."

Sly spent roughly two decades fronting and writing for No Use For a Name, one of the defining bands of melodic punk, and also released several solo albums, building a substantial catalog along the way. His sudden death in 2012 hit the punk community hard and resonated with fans and musicians well beyond his immediate circle.

The long list of peers he shared stages with made a tribute record a natural project, and the album stands as a document of how widely respected he was as a songwriter. The vinyl repress puts that collection back into circulation for listeners who missed it the first time around.
