David Delinquent & The IOUs put out debut album "Scandal"
The Dundee power pop punk band's first full-length is out on streaming, CD and vinyl, with release shows set for Scotland later this month.
David Delinquent & The IOUs have released their debut album, "Scandal". The record is available on streaming platforms and comes out on CD and vinyl through Elastic Stage.
The band hails from Dundee, Scotland, and is fronted by songwriter David Delinquent, previously known for The Delinquents and Spacers as well as the Football, Beer & Punk Rock Podcast. Their sound leans on classic '77 punk sharpened by strong melodies and big hooks, with a Scottish character running through the group's fast, no-frills anthems.
"Scandal" is framed as the sum of everything the band has built so far, pulling together punk attitude, power-pop hooks and rock 'n' roll swagger across a single full-length statement. The group lists The Wildhearts, Manic Street Preachers, The Skids and Big Country among the influences behind the album, which the band says explores individuality.
Two release shows are already on the books: September 25 at Beat Generator in Dundee and September 26 at Banshee Labyrinth in Edinburgh. Further live dates are planned for Glasgow, Dunfermline and Aberdeen, with more shows still to be confirmed.
"It's an absolute party record," David Delinquent said of the album, adding that it is the most excited he has ever been about a release of his own and that he is proud of what the band achieved.
