claire rousay has announced a new solo EP titled on holding, due October 9. The record will be the first release on quality sounds ltd, a label the artist is launching alongside the project, and it arrives just days after her collaborative album with Martyna Basta.
Lead single "holy sedative" is out now. The track leans on the hallmarks of rousay's emo ambient approach: a minimal piano figure, wide stretches of silence and meticulous sound design.
Explaining the label, rousay said it exists to gather music she feels carries a distinguishing characteristic. She framed the idea of quality "not as a measurement of excellence" but as an intangible, personalized trait rather than a technical benchmark.
Most of the material was captured during touring across Europe and the UK in 2026. The EP pulls from field recordings made in transit, Ableton experiments in hotel rooms, piano takes recorded between soundcheck and showtime on whatever instrument each venue provided, interviews with people attending the concerts, and live recordings of the sets themselves.
The tracklist runs "new escape," "holy sedative," "on holding," "rekindle (for guitar)" and "ogden home." Pre-orders are open now.
