Chastity Belt share "Friends For This" ahead of new album "All My Friends"
The Seattle indie rock band closes out its run of advance tracks days before the record arrives.
Chastity Belt have released "Friends For This," the final preview from their upcoming album "All My Friends," due at the end of this week. The Seattle band had been rolling out the record two songs at a time.
That rollout started with "I Could Say Less" and "Pavement," followed by "To Decide" and "Designs." "Friends For This" now serves as the last taste before the full release.
Guitarist and vocalist Lydia Lund said she wrote the lyrics shortly after moving back from England, during a stretch when reconnecting with her friends in Seattle, after two years away, felt especially meaningful. Plenty of sleepovers followed the return, she said.
Lund also described the vocal sessions as a homespun, communal affair, tracked in her basement alongside Julia, Gretchen and Samur. She singled out the vocals Gretchen recorded for the song's closing stretch, which she suggested are buried deep enough that only close listening will reveal them.
For the record, the album title has no connection to the LCD Soundsystem song of the same name. Active since the 2010s, Chastity Belt have become a fixture of the Seattle indie rock scene, and "All My Friends" continues that run.
