Artio Close The 'Soul Rot' Chapter With New Song 'Bloodless (-1)'
The track arrives with a video and comes from 'Soul Rot Forever', an EP that expands on the album the band released earlier this year.
Artio have released a new song called "Bloodless (-1)", a track the band describe as a bridge between the "Soul Rot" era and what comes next. It arrives with an accompanying music video and effectively closes that chapter.
Musically, the song pulls together the emotional weight of emo and the restless edge of post-hardcore, holding on to the traits that built the band's reputation while adding touches picked up along the way.
Explaining the lyrics, the band said the song is aimed at anyone who has been betrayed, let down or stabbed in the back by someone they believed they could trust, and who no longer wants to beg to be believed. They added that a trauma response can be valid until it turns into another cage.
The accompanying video leans on symbolic imagery to bring the song's themes to life, featuring fallen angels, blood-soaked settings and a heavy focus on visual detail.
"Bloodless (-1)" is taken from the EP "Soul Rot Forever", a companion piece that expands on the album "Soul Rot", issued earlier this year. The release also includes reworked material, among them an orchestral version of "Algae Bloom" recorded with a number of Leeds-based musicians.
Artio currently feature on the cover of the latest issue of Rock Sound, as part of the magazine's British summer group feature.
