AP A-sides playlist gathers 10 new tracks from Wishy, Fontaines D.C. and more
Alternative Press' weekly roundup also features MX LONELY, Lucy Bedroque, Remi Wolf, beabadoobee and a handful of rising names.
Alternative Press has published a new edition of AP A-sides, the weekly playlist in which the magazine's editors pick ten standout songs from the past seven days of releases. The Aug. 21 list spans indie rock, alternative pop and heavier guitar music, with no fixed genre boundaries.
Leading the selection are "Sensational" by Wishy and "Marianne" by Fontaines D.C. The playlist also includes beabadoobee's "Memories," Remi Wolf's "Bottle" and Lucy Bedroque's "SPEED DEMON." MX LONELY appears with "March 16th," a track featuring Caitlin Starr.
Rounding out the list are lesser-known acts: GB with "Small Gods," Grave Secrets with "Cut Your Hair," Index with "Earth," and a Bleary Eyed remix of Joyer's "Something to Prove."
The publication notes that the series follows no rigid parameters, since the definition of alternative is constantly shifting. The stated criterion is simply which tracks the editors keep returning to during the week. New editions land every Friday, offering a snapshot of what is circulating across the alternative scene beyond major album cycles.
As in recent weeks, the roundup mixes established independent artists with projects still early in their careers, a balance the magazine has maintained throughout the series.
