Alternative Press rounds up 10 new songs, led by Turnstile and Slayyyter

Alternative Press has published the latest installment of AP A-sides, the magazine's weekly rundown of the ten tracks its editors singled out from the past seven days of releases. The Aug. 28, 2026 edition pulls together artists working across very different corners of the alternative landscape.

The headline entry is "BIRDS: SLAYYYTER VERSION," a reworking of the Turnstile song handled by pop artist Slayyyter. The list also features "Foreverrr" by Computerwife, "MT" by Empty Shell Casing and "WHERE I'M COMING FROM" by Knifey.

Rounding out the selection are Greg Freeman's "Cahokia," Just Penelope's "Sister," Porch Light's "Paranoia," the Frost Children remix of underscores' "The Peace," "aimee lou wood freestyle" by untitled (halo) and the mixtape version of Winter's "hide-a-lullaby," featuring Peel Dream Magazine.

AP A-sides is refreshed every Friday, and the publication notes that it applies no rigid genre parameters to the picks — the only requirement is that the editors keep returning to the songs on repeat. In practice, the playlist works as a weekly snapshot of what is circulating in alternative music, mixing established acts with newer names.
