The Dollyrots drop "Apocalyptic Romance" and map out a 2027 tour

The single previews the duo's next album, while the spring run also marks two decades of "Because I'm Awesome"

The Dollyrots have put "Apocalyptic Romance" on streaming platforms, offering the first look at the album the duo plans to release in 2027. Alongside the song, the band announced the opening batch of dates for the Apocalyptic Romance Tour, which rolls through the Midwest in March 2027. Tickets are already on sale.

The run carries a double purpose. It will feature the first-ever live performances of material from the forthcoming record, and it also doubles as a celebration of the 20th anniversary of "Because I'm Awesome", originally issued in 2007. Songs from that album will turn up at every show, giving crowds a chance to revisit the record that locked in the band's place in pop punk.

Built around the long-running partnership of bassist and vocalist Kelly Ogden and guitarist Luis Cabezas, The Dollyrots have leaned on constant touring, a loyal fanbase and a habit of doing things their own way. The sound has stayed consistent: sugar-rush hooks, buzzing guitars and a mix of attitude and optimism.

Ogden said making music still feels as urgent and fresh as it did two decades ago, and framed the tour as a way of tying both chapters together. Cabezas, in turn, recalled that the title track of "Because I'm Awesome" was written from a sarcastic angle before listeners adopted it as a self-empowerment anthem. He described it as humbling that the album still resonates after 20 years, pointing to fans who say the song helped them through hard stretches.
