Spanish Love Songs detail fifth album "Future Nausea" for November

Spanish Love Songs have announced "Future Nausea", their fifth full-length, due in November through Pure Noise Records. The album was produced by former Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla and Illuminati Hotties' Sarah Tudzin. Pre-orders are live now.

Leading the announcement is "Good American", which singer Dylan Slocum calls the thematic backbone of the record. The song addresses the military complex and the way soldiers, including trans service members, are discarded, a subject Slocum returned to after Trump's re-election. "It's an angry song", he says, describing it as possibly the angriest he has ever written and noting the band kept the recording minimal and loud.

Slocum says the goal was a big rock record, built on shimmering keyboards, ringing guitars and soaring choruses set against lyrics about political violence, late-stage capitalism and an uncertain future. He describes the tone as more angry than sad, and calls it the least sad album the band has made.

The tracklist runs 12 songs, including "Living Blues", "New Fears", "Welcome To Hell", "Jan666", "Doom Tripping", "Shadowland", "No Dreams", "See You on the Way Out" and closer "Until the Sun Explodes", plus the title track and its second part. The band frames the back half as carrying a faint sense of optimism, summed up by the line "Post-apocalyptic doesn't mean we all stop dancing" on "Doom Tripping".

Over the past decade the group has shared stages with The Wonder Years, Alkaline Trio, Knocked Loose and Hot Mulligan, and played Furnace Fest, 2000trees and the revived Vans Warped Tour.
