Soul Glo and One Step Closer land on this week's AP A-sides playlist
Alternative Press' weekly roundup gathers ten recent tracks spanning hardcore, alternative pop and electronic-leaning sounds.
Alternative Press has published the Oct. 23 edition of AP A-sides, its weekly playlist collecting ten songs released over the past few days and chosen by the magazine's editors. The selection follows no fixed genre rules, drawing instead on whatever the staff kept returning to during the week.
Among the picks are "Ppl Worried" by Soul Glo, featuring Tunde Adebimpe, and "Was It Ever Enough?" by One Step Closer, two acts rooted in the current hardcore and emo landscape. Dominic Fike's "Pangea" and Current Joys' "skinamarink on the tv" also make the cut.
Rounding out the list are Being Dead's "Aquarium," Chanpan's "speculations," Ghostemane's "Miazma," Mareux's "Cadillac Casket," Niis' "Take Your Mess" and Threshold's "Stillwater."
The playlist is refreshed every Friday and works as a snapshot of recent releases under the alternative umbrella, a term the publication notes is constantly shifting. The magazine's monthly album release calendar covers the rest of October's output.
