Queens of the Stone Age announce Perfecth and share "Insignificant Other"

Queens of the Stone Age have made it official: their new album is called Perfecth and lands this fall, their first full-length since 2023's In Times New Roman... The announcement arrived alongside a new single, "Insignificant Other," a funky, bluesy groove built around organ with Josh Homme pushing into his upper register.

Homme co-produced the record with bandmate Michael Shuman. It was pieced together from sessions held in several different cities over the past few years, and the band cites the Japanese art of kintsugi as an inspiration. "Every song sounds like it's from a different world," Homme said, describing an attempt to stitch together feelings tied to love, lust and foolishness.

Of the single, Homme said it deals with distance and with how someone can become your entire world before vanishing. Perfecth runs nine tracks, opening with "It's Only Love" and including "Where The Goth Girls At?," "Mono," "Phantom Limb" and "Run Away From The Mob." Last month's Nikki Lane collaboration "Easy Street" is also on the record.

The rollout has been handled through comedy skits posted to social media, one of which deliberately listed the wrong release date. The newest clip, directed by Chapman Baehler, is a short fable about adopting a dog and features Homme alongside family members and a fairly unsettling puppet.

The band is currently on a stadium run with Foo Fighters, Mannequin Pussy and Gouge Away, with dates through Canada and Las Vegas, plus festival appearances at Bourbon & Beyond and Aftershock. From late October, QOTSA head overseas for shows in Iceland, Japan, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, wrapping up in Auckland in December.
