A busy week of independent releases ranged from Finnish pop punk to a supergroup stacked with American punk veterans. Pressure Set, featuring members of The Bollweevils, Bear Away, Sludgeworth and SPELLS, has put out its self-titled debut on Dr. Strange Records, paired with a video for the single "Panic Show." The band has a slot at The Fest on October 24 at The Backyard at Boca Fiesta & Palomino, plus two nights at the Dr. Strange Winter Bash on January 16 and 17, 2027.

Helsinki pop punk outfit MTVKID released its new EP, Far From It, on September 18, led by the track "Don't Let Go." No tour dates have been announced yet in support of the record.

The same day saw The Albert Square, the project fronted by indie rocker Sim Castro, issue I (Wish I Could) Talk To People through Asian Man Records. The album digs into loneliness and acceptance, and the video for "Bless This Mess" features guest vocals from Jeff Rosenstock. The group is currently touring, hitting Olympia, Seattle and Portland in early October before dates in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Richmond from the 17th through the 19th, wrapping up at FEST in Gainesville on October 25.

Elsewhere, Innanuttshell Reekordingz, the new label launched by former Fishbone member Norwood Fisher, has released Mad Tab's long-awaited record, alas… the bomb voyage, with a single already streaming.

Rounding things out, Atlanta's The Stepmoms shared a video for their latest single "Paradise Lost," filmed with the band crammed into a bathroom. They play Ska-tober Fest on October 10 at Meddlesome Brewing in Memphis, Tennessee.
