Pressure Set announce self-titled debut album and share "Binge Watch On Mute" video
The supergroup featuring members of The Bollweevils, Bear Away, SPELLS, The Methadones, Sludgeworth and Violets lands October 2 via Dr. Strange Records.
Pressure Set have announced their self-titled debut album, due October 2 through Dr. Strange Records. The news arrived alongside a video for "Binge Watch On Mute", the first taste of the record.
The band brings together punk veterans from several scenes: drummer Rob Burleson, guitarist Dom Brining of UK act Bear Away, Daryl Wilson of The Bollweevils and bassist Simon Lamb of The Methadones, Sludgeworth and Violets. It started in 2024, when Burleson toured with Denver's SPELLS and crossed paths with Brining. Discovering they had matching Rocket From The Crypt tattoos sealed the deal.
Wilson joined next, in what marks his first side project since Landos 45, and his Chicago connections brought Lamb aboard to complete the lineup. A loose idea eventually turned into a full album.
The record is described as a run of short, sharp bursts of high-energy punk rock, drawing on Gang of Four, Wipers, Hot Snakes and the MC5, with nods to Descendents, Naked Raygun and Samiam. Newer acts such as Meat Wave and Idles also figure among the reference points.
While the four punk vets form the permanent core, Pressure Set operate with a revolving door of friends and family — an arrangement the band say suits them just fine.
