Oso Oso announces new album "an exchange of information" and shares single

Oso Oso, the project helmed by Jade Lilitri, has revealed details of its next full-length. "an exchange of information" is due November 6 and doubles as the first release on Feral Twin, the label recently started by Hop Along drummer Mark Quinlan. The record runs twelve tracks, opening with "4 am redemption" and closing with "the days."

Lead single "know you know me better" is out now. It opens with a string arrangement before settling into the polished, emo-tinged guitar pop the Long Island songwriter has specialized in for years, a small tweak to a familiar formula.

Lilitri framed the album around the challenge of repetition. By the sixth LP under one name, he explained, the earlier records start acting as an influence themselves: you know what the band is about and where it has been, so the work becomes figuring out where to go next. That question, he said, guided much of the writing.

Quinlan also spoke about launching the label. He said he has spent most of his life around independent music as a musician, agent, talent buyer and show booker, and wanted to channel that experience into something deliberate, where every release carries weight. He ruled out putting out records simply to fill a schedule, describing Feral Twin as a home for artists and ideas he believes in. Leading with the new Oso Oso album, he added, felt like the right introduction for the imprint.
