Nor'easter wipes out All Things Go NYC, Global Citizen and Oceans Calling
High winds, tides and flooding along the East Coast forced three major festivals off the calendar, with automatic refunds promised to ticket buyers.
A nor'easter barreling up the East Coast has taken down three major festivals in a single weekend. All Things Go NYC, Global Citizen Festival and Oceans Calling were all hit by warnings of high winds, rising tides and flooding.
The New York edition of All Things Go was set to run Sept. 25-27 at Forest Hills Stadium with Ethel Cain, Carly Rae Jepsen, Zara Larsson, Lola Young, Brandi Carlile, Muna and Grace Ives. Organizers said the call came after consulting local officials, the venue and weather advisors, pointing to severe conditions across the New York metro area. Fans who bought through AXS will be refunded automatically within 30 business days, while other buyers should go through their original point of purchase.
In Maryland, Oceans Calling first scrapped its opening day because of beach erosion, then canceled the entire weekend. The festival cited a stronger, more westward track for the storm reported by the National Weather Service, saying tides, floods and wind made it impossible to safely finish the site build. Dave Matthews Band, Hootie And The Blowfish, Twenty One Pilots, Gwen Stefani, Mumford & Sons and Matchbox Twenty were billed to headline. Tickets bought through Front Gate Tickets are being refunded automatically.
Global Citizen Festival, scheduled for Saturday on Central Park's Great Lawn with Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey, Tomorrow X Together, Victoria Monet, Yeonjun and Alicia Keys, said it was monitoring the forecast alongside the City of New York and NYC Parks while preparations continued.
Ed Sheeran's Gillette Stadium shows were also called off because of the storm. CBGB Festival, due Sunday at Under The K Bridge in Brooklyn with Morrissey, Patti Smith and Interpol, said it is still preparing to go ahead as scheduled.
