My Chemical Romance Confirm New Album Plans, Reunite With Bert McCracken Onstage

My Chemical Romance plan to make a new record. Gerard Way shared the news from the stage of the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles during The Black Parade Tour, the run celebrating 20 years of the band's 2006 album.

Way told the audience the group intends to head into the studio next year and probably won't play shows during that stretch. "Next year, we want to go make a record," he said, adding that fans should expect to see the band again in 2028.

It would be MCR's first studio album since 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys, which was followed in 2014 by the greatest hits collection May Death Never Stop You. The 2022 standalone single "The Foundations Of Decay" suggested a full-length was close, but nothing followed.

The night before, at the same venue, the band staged a reunion with the Used, who were on the bill as openers. Way joined Bert McCracken's group for "Buried Myself Alive," from their self-titled debut, and McCracken returned the favor on "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison," from Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. The two frontmen were once public rivals.

The tour continues despite a lawsuit filed against the band by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
