Moonraker Drop New Album "Me And The Bells" via Punkerton Records

The Los Angeles melodic punk trio's twelve-track record digs into anxiety, resentment and the stubbornness it takes to keep showing up.

Moonraker have released their new full-length, "Me And The Bells", out now through Punkerton Records. The twelve-song record collides anxiety, self-doubt, resentment and survival with the odd kind of determination required to keep showing up anyway.

The Los Angeles melodic punk trio have long had a knack for making failure feel funny right up until the moment it hurts, and the new album pushes that balance even further. Explosive hooks and relentless punk energy sit alongside lyrics that are sarcastic, painfully self-aware and unmistakably human.

The title came from a phrase drummer and vocalist David Green had kept in his notebook for almost as long as the band has existed, waiting for the right idea to attach itself to it. He describes it as his standard answer to the questions he gets asked most often: how to get through a hard stretch, how to make people care about your art, how to hold a band together for this long.

"Just keep ringing your bell", Green says, noting that people might hear you and might not, but they definitely won't if you stop. He adds that the phrase means different things to each member of the group, from a sharper anger at the patriarchy after becoming a father, to a deep-cut comedy reference from a podcast heard more than a decade ago.

"Me And The Bells" is available now.
