MC Lars expands "The Edgar Allan Poe LP" with one-year anniversary edition
Out now via Oglio Records, the reissue adds seven bonus tracks, including 2026 rerecordings and cuts from the 2012 Poe EP.
MC Lars has released the One Year Anniversary Edition of The Edgar Allan Poe LP through Oglio Records, arriving exactly twelve months after the album was delivered to Kickstarter backers on Halloween 2025.
The expanded version keeps the original twelve songs and tacks on seven bonus recordings: three new 2026 takes plus four tracks pulled from the 2012 Edgar Allan Poe EP. Among them is "Mr. Raven", the original collaboration with Dead Milkmen, which also appears in a 2026 rework featuring Chicago act Gosh Diggity.
Guests scattered across the record include Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup, frequent collaborator Watt White, Mega Ran, Rodney Anonymous, Schaffer the Darklord, Lacey Johnson, Ash Tell Em, Christina Rotondo and Worm Quartet. Underground prank call figures Longmont Potion Castle and Brad Carter of Phone Losers of America also turn up.
The project was funded in 2025 by 385 backers who pledged $29,917, a figure that dwarfs what the poet himself ever saw. By the Poe Society of Baltimore's accounting, Edgar Allan Poe earned roughly $6,200 across his entire career, and just nine dollars for "The Raven".
MC Lars framed the full-length as the finished version of an idea he had been circling for years, saying "The EP was a sketch. This is the actual building." He added that he pursued a master's degree to demonstrate that teaching poetry through rap produces measurable results, pushing back on critics who dismissed the approach as a gimmick. The anniversary edition is available now.
