Knocked Loose donate $8,000 to fan paralyzed during Louder Than Life set
Jamie Ulshoffer severed her spine after a man fell from a tree and landed on her during the band's Sept. 18 hometown performance in Louisville.
Knocked Loose have donated $8,000 to the family of a fan who was paralyzed during the band's set at this year's Louder Than Life festival in Louisville on Sept. 18. Jamie Ulshoffer, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was taken to a hospital, where doctors determined she had severed her spine.
Her husband, Conor Ulshoffer, told Nashville television station WSMV that Jamie was sitting cross-legged on the ground next to a friend while he stood a few feet ahead of her. A man then fell out of a tree and landed on top of her. Conor said doctors told him she is permanently paralyzed from the waist down.
A GoFundMe campaign was created by her niece, Cheyenne Will, to cover medical costs. The fundraiser has climbed to nearly $30,000 of its $40,000 goal, a total that includes the band's contribution.
Louisville Metro Police told local station WHAS there is no ongoing criminal investigation into the man who allegedly fell from the tree, and that the case is now considered a civil matter. Mayor Craig Greenberg said festival organizers and emergency personnel worked hard to keep attendees safe during an edition that was disrupted by heavy storms and performance delays.
The Louisville band begins its Hive Mind tour on Saturday (Sept. 26) in Newport, Kentucky. The run includes stops in Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles and Austin before wrapping Nov. 8 in Mexico City. Denzel Curry, Superheaven and Boundaries are joining as support acts, with Curry absent from the Fort Worth date at Sick New World.
