The track appears on Vol. 3 of the Punk Rock Radar and Coffin Curse Records Green Day tribute series and marks the current lineup's first studio recording.

Los Angeles punk artist Kit Major has released her version of Green Day's "Brain Stew." The recording comes from Vol. 3 of the Green Day tribute compilations put together by Punk Rock Radar and Coffin Curse Records.

The cover keeps the drive of the original while adding Kit Major's own distinctive edge. She explained that the song was the first cover the band ever learned together and has long been a fixture of her live set. "Brain Stew' has always been one of my favorite Green Day songs," she said.

The release also carries extra weight for the project: it is the first Kit Major recording featuring band members AJ Peacox, Kamber Fishbein and Tom Fitzgibbon. According to the singer, she never expected to actually track the song, but the choice was obvious once the compilation invitation arrived.

The cover caps off a busy stretch. Kit Major recently put out her EP Miss Ego and wrapped her first UK tour. She is currently on the road along the US West Coast with fellow punk act Tess & The Details, keeping a steady run of new music and live dates going.
