Jane Remover exits M3F Fest after organizers keep Israeli band Temper City

Jane Remover is no longer part of the M3F Fest lineup. The Phoenix festival unveiled a revised poster for next year's edition and the artist's name is gone, a month after she publicly demanded that Israeli alt-rock trio Temper City be dropped from the bill.

The ultimatum came on Aug. 5 via Instagram Stories. "yo get that idf band off the lineup or I'm not playing," the experimental pop musician wrote, tying the group to the Israel Defense Forces. M3F has not addressed the reason for the change, instead slotting Flying Lotus into her place. Temper City have also stayed quiet.

The LA-based trio have only released two songs. The first, "Self Aware," became a massive TikTok hit earlier this year, arrived via indie label Thirty Knots in partnership with TikTok's SoundOn platform, and topped Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart in July.

Military service is mandatory for most Israeli citizens around age 18, and US-born frontman Eytan Peled has publicly discussed his time in the IDF. In a 2022 interview with the Israeli outlet Frogi, he credited the experience with sharpening his language skills and confidence. Before Temper City, Peled and bandmates Chen Kordova and Aviv Barenholtz, who work together as the production duo Sync, had credits behind the scenes with artists including Barns Courtney and Zeds Dead.

Temper City are finishing their debut album and are booked for Austin City Limits next month. Jane Remover, meanwhile, resumes her LIVE EXHIBIT North American headline tour next week in Minneapolis.
