James Marriott turned the biggest headline show of his career into the launch of a new era. On Thursday, September 17, in front of 5,000 fans at a sold-out O2 Academy Brixton in London, the musician revealed that his third album, 'Warning Signs', will be released on January 15.

The announcement came moments after a confetti-soaked performance of recent single 'Burn Down The Disco'. Clearly emotional, the 29-year-old told the crowd he was "trying not to fucking cry right now" before thanking the audience and crediting them for making his career possible.

The night also closed the chapter of 'Don't Tell The Dog', the album that gave Marriott his first number one. Three unheard tracks from the new record made the setlist: the dance-leaning pair 'Sleepwalker' and 'Freak', plus the live debut of 'Lovestruck', which he dedicated to his band.

Elsewhere, the show ran through fan favourites including 'Plasticine', 'Toothache', 'White Noise' and 'It's Only Love', the latter soundtracked by phone lights across the venue. The main set wrapped with 'Limbs', the closing track of 'Don't Tell The Dog', sung back at the musician in full.

Before the end of the evening, Marriott introduced 'Car Lights' with a message about self-acceptance, telling the room the journey can be long but that he was there alongside them. The show finished with a mass singalong to 'Grapes', capping six years of steady growth built alongside a fiercely dedicated fanbase. 'Warning Signs' is due on January 15.
