Hayley Williams brings out Zedd for first "Stay The Night" performance in 12 years
The reunion happened during the encore of her Hollywood Bowl show in Los Angeles, part of the tour billed as the Hayley Williams Show.
Hayley Williams dug deep into her non-Paramore catalog on Monday night in Los Angeles, performing "Stay The Night" with Zedd himself for the first time in 12 years. The German producer joined her during the encore of her Hollywood Bowl set.
Before launching into the song, Williams introduced her guest to the crowd, telling them, "I'd like to bring an old friend up here," and then revealing his identity. Rather than recreate the track's build-ups and drops, Zedd sat at Williams' piano and played the melody straight, with the singer delivering the vocal with full force.
The moment had been hinted at since the tour was announced. Social media posts tied to specific dates teased lyrics from her old pop crossovers — one referencing "Airplanes," her 2010 collaboration with B.o.B., and another quoting "Stay The Night." At a New York show last month, Williams performed "Airplanes" for the first time since the song was new, with tourmate Rico Nasty handling the rap verses. She revived it again in Los Angeles.
Released in 2013, "Stay The Night" reached No. 18 in the US and No. 2 in the UK. The last known live performance of the collaboration came in 2014, when Williams joined Zedd at Wango Tango in Los Angeles, a month after the pair debuted the song together at the MTV Upfronts.
Williams has kept a heavy schedule beyond the tour, and she is already confirmed as a headliner for next year's Primavera.
