Gerard Way teases a fifth My Chemical Romance album during San Antonio show
On stage at the Alamodome, the singer told fans the band has always wanted to follow up 2010's 'Danger Days' and that supporters deserve a new record
Gerard Way has once again raised hopes for a fifth My Chemical Romance studio album. Speaking to the crowd at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday (September 12), the singer addressed the band's desire to return to writing new material.
Gerard pointed to 'The Foundations Of Decay', the surprise single released in May 2022, as proof the group should keep going. He acknowledged that life gets in the way, but insisted the band has always wanted to make another album, telling the audience, "You guys deserve another record."
A new full-length would be the first since 2010's 'Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys'. Since reuniting, the band has only issued that one standalone song, with no formal announcement of a long-player to date.
In the meantime, My Chemical Romance are preparing a 20th anniversary edition of 'The Black Parade', due October 23. The release collects the full original album, from 'The End.' through 'Blood (A Brief Intermission)', alongside bonus material recorded during that era.
Deluxe editions add 'Heaven Help Us', 'Kill All Your Friends' and 'My Way Home Is Through You', plus live takes on 'Dead!' and 'The Sharpest Lives'. 'Someone Out There Loves You' appears on all deluxe editions and the One Step 2LP. No date or official confirmation has been attached to the potential new record.
