Fiddlehead and Walter Schreifels honor Lou Koller at Brooklyn show
The band opened its Warsaw set with a cover of Sick Of It All's "Clobberin' Time," with Schreifels joining them onstage.
Fiddlehead opened their New York show on Friday (7/31) with a tribute to the late Lou Koller of Sick Of It All. At Warsaw in Brooklyn, the band brought out Walter Schreifels to join them for a cover of "Clobberin' Time," which kicked off the set.
The stop was part of Fiddlehead's summer run, a rare extended tour for the band, supporting their new EP Baby I'll Change. The group described the acts joining them on the road as "some incredible bands."
Direct support came from Self Defense Family, the long-running project led by Drug Church's Pat Kindlon. The band had been quiet for some time before the show was announced, but they've since put out "Reclusion," their first new song in six years, and played it in Brooklyn. The set was only their second in five years.
Elliott and Posición Unida rounded out the bill, making for a lineup that spanned multiple generations of melodic hardcore and emo. Photographer Rob Menzer documented all four sets, and video of the tribute made the rounds online.
Koller fronted Sick Of It All for decades, and the tribute carried extra weight in Brooklyn, the borough where the band got its start.
