Fake Names announce album Punk Ruins and share single "Until It's Normal"

Fake Names have announced Punk Ruins, their third studio album, out October 23rd on Epitaph Records. It is the band's first batch of new music in three years, and it arrives alongside lead single "Until It's Normal", released today with an accompanying video.

The song channels frustration with people who buy into today's fascist propaganda, setting the tone for a record that picks apart political manipulation and the social neurosis of modern life while still treating punk as a form of salvation.

Sonically, Punk Ruins pulls DC post-hardcore together with modern power-pop, a mix the band frames as an amalgam of fury and fun. Sessions took place at Chicago's Electrical Audio, with Matthew Barnhardy producing.

Guitarist Brian Baker described a fast, focused process: twelve songs cut in five days, every one of them making the final tracklist. He credited the pace to the members working from home, arriving with parts already sorted and swapping files to fine-tune them before tracking. "This album is a collective expression," he said.

The group will take the material on the road as well. In January 2027, Fake Names head out on their first-ever European tour, with dates in Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Austria and the UK. Tickets and the full run of shows are available through the band's official channels.
