Cherry Red Records has announced a four-CD box set devoted to live Dinosaur Jr. recordings, all of them captured in 1991. The collection arrives November 27 through the UK label.
The set pulls from five performances on the band's Green Mind tour: Maxwell's in Hoboken (January 17, 1991), Citi Club in Boston (May 18, 1991), The Catalyst in Santa Cruz (June 6, 1991), Bloom in Mezzago, Italy (September 13, 1991), and The Town & Country Club in London (October 2, 1991).
Cherry Red describes the source material as audience recordings made in the United States and Europe, since restored, edited and remastered for the release. That means the box is built from documents rather than official soundboard tapes, stitched together around a single stretch of touring.
By sticking to one year, the collection works as a snapshot of the trio on the road behind Green Mind, a period that remains a reference point for guitar bands that followed. No further details about packaging or formats beyond the 4xCD configuration were included in the announcement.
