Cracked Lime debut with the shadowy single "The Idiot"

The new London duo's first track, produced by Tom Kellett, leans on anxious guitars, shuffling percussion and a gothic atmosphere.

London duo Cracked Lime have released "The Idiot," their debut single. Produced by Tom Kellett, the track builds tension steadily and never settles into a conventional chorus.

The arrangement pairs jittery guitar figures with shuffling percussion and a distinctly gothic mood. Instead of the usual verse-chorus structure, the song moves forward in a straight line, carried by a persistent sense of unease.

In a press release, the duo said the song came out of a period of confusion and of feeling trapped in their own lives, with an urgent need for change. They described the track as "an existential cry for authenticity in a normalised world," tied to the fear of compromise and of losing authenticity to material concerns.

The debut places Cracked Lime within the darker post-punk strain currently circulating through London. No EP or album has been announced so far.
