Counterpunch are back. The Chicago punk outfit has announced "Dig", their first new music since the 2022 full-length Rewire. The song is officially out on October 16.

The band describes the track as a fast, raw emotional outburst, written as a release in response to troubling issues that continue to be ignored and to what their country keeps taking part in, both at home and abroad. Drums on the recording were handled by Sean Sellars, known for his work with Good Riddance and Pulley.

The single lands in the middle of a busy run of shows. Counterpunch are currently on the road supporting Authority Zero, with stops in Albuquerque, Tulsa, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Rochester, Providence, Westfield, Clifton and Brooklyn, plus a date in Denver at East Fax Tap on October 17.

The Authority Zero dates wrap on October 30 at Wood Shop in Brooklyn. The band's hometown show in Chicago is set for October 24 at Reggie's.
