Codefendants break down their "Crimewave" sound in new Warped Tour interview

The collective featuring NOFX's Fat Mike, Julio 'Ceschi' Ramos and Get Dead's Sam King sat down with Chorus.fm backstage at the festival

Codefendants have given a new video interview to Chorus.fm, recorded while the group was out on Warped Tour. The conversation was conducted by writer Jackie Cular and published this week.

The collective was formed by Fat Mike of NOFX, rapper and singer Julio 'Ceschi' Ramos and Sam King of Get Dead. Bringing together musicians from different corners of punk and hip hop, the project moves across genres rather than settling into any single one, pulling from alternative rock, rap and the raw aggression of punk.

The band itself has labeled that mix "Crimewave," a term it uses to describe the sound it has been building since forming. Codefendants' identity also runs through its lyrics, which lean on dark humor, sharp writing and a blunt, street-level honesty shared by all three members.

Their appearance on Warped Tour underlines the collective's place on the punk and alternative festival circuit, a world where Fat Mike has spent decades through NOFX and his label Fat Wreck Chords. The full interview is available through Chorus.fm, which runs an ongoing series of video conversations with artists from the scene.
