Anxious, beabadoobee and Wednesday headline new AP A-sides weekly playlist
The Sept. 18 roundup collects ten new tracks, including beabadoobee's "Satellite" featuring Deftones frontman Chino Moreno.
Alternative Press has published the latest edition of AP A-sides, the weekly playlist in which the magazine's editors single out the songs that stood out most across the past seven days. The Sept. 18 list runs ten tracks deep and moves between melodic post-hardcore, indie rock, electronic music and alternative pop.
Anxious appears with "Secret Weapon," while beabadoobee lands on the list with "Satellite," a collaboration with Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno. Wednesday is included too, with the "Gouge Away Version" of "Wasp."
The rest of the selection features Arlo Parks with Oscar Farrell's remix of "2SIDED," Boy Harsher's "Faulty," Dummy's "April Limousine," fish narc's "Big Dumb World," hemlocke springs' "gloria!," N8NOFACE's "Memories" and Winter's "nicotine," which features Eyedress.
The publication notes that the playlist follows no rigid genre boundaries, since the definition of alternative keeps shifting. The stated criteria is straightforward: the songs the editors kept returning to during the week.
AP A-sides is updated every Friday and works as a filter for the sheer volume of daily releases. The magazine also maintains a monthly album calendar tracking September's upcoming full-length records.
