Teenage Bottlerocket have stepped outside the usual pop-punk release cycle with a Halloween-themed children's book, issued alongside a flexi disc featuring a brand new version of one of their songs.

Titled "I Don't Know What I Want To Be For Halloween", the book was written by band members Miguel Chen and Ray Carlisle and illustrated by Kaleb Kaiser. It follows Margeaux, a girl who can't settle on a costume while everyone around her already has the perfect one, and learns along the way that the coolest ideas come from being yourself.

The perfect-bound release runs 28 full-color, fully illustrated pages and takes its cue from the band's song of the same name. Tucked inside each copy is a 45 rpm 7-inch flexi disc containing a freshly recorded take on the track, rewritten with new lyrics aimed squarely at younger listeners and meant to be played on a home turntable with the kids.

The book and flexi disc package is available through the Pirates Press Records webstore, while digital copies can be picked up on Bandcamp. A widescreen edition of the complete read-along video has also been posted to YouTube for anyone who wants the full story in video form.
